Step 1:
The first stage is the comprehensive in-person consultation. Your medical and cosmetic history will be discussed in detail. This is your opportunity to express your ideas, desired results, and any concerns you may have.
Dr. Hen will examine your skin, assessing your face in both the resting position and when making certain facial expressions. All angles of your face will be photographed, including the side profile.
Step 2:
Your unique facial anatomy guides the creation of a personalised treatment plan, ensuring that the treatment is tailored to your specific needs for natural-looking results. At Avena Clinic, we understand that there is no such thing as a 'one size fits all' when it comes to the face.
Dr. Hen will discuss how your anatomy will guide the technique and the approach, ensuring a bespoke treatment plan that aligns with your facial structure and desired outcomes.
Step 3:
Before injecting, your face will be cleaned with a gentle, hypoallergenic cleanser. The cleansing process ensures a hygienic and safe environment for the procedure. Attending the appointment without wearing any makeup is much appreciated as it will help make things more efficient.
Step 4:
The injecting process typically lasts around 10 minutes and whilst most people don’t find it painful at all, sometimes it can feel like a brief, sharp scratch. Dr. Hen uses extremely tiny needles to make the process as comfortable as possible.

Immediately after the procedure, you may notice small red bumps at the injection sites, which subside within 15 minutes. Initial results begin to manifest after 1 week, with the full effect of the treatment becoming evident at the 2 week mark.

Pre-care instructions

Refrain from taking ibuprofen, omega-3 fish oil, and vitamin E supplements for the week leading up to your appointment.

Avoid the use of harsh skincare products such as retinoids and acids for the two days preceding the treatment.

For two days prior, avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream near the treatment area.

Do not consume alcohol for a 24 hour period before your appointment.

Arrive at the appointment with a clean face, free of makeup.
Post-care instructions

Avoid touching the area for 6 hours or applying makeup for 12 hours.

Try to sleep on your back during the first night.

Use gentle skincare products for 24 hours, avoid retinoids and acids.

You may take paracetamol if needed, but avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, omega-3 fish oil, vitamin E and alcohol for 48 hours.

Avoid excessive sweating and strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Shield the treated area from direct sunlight for 24 hours.

Avoid hot showers, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for 24 hours.

Do not book face treatments such as facial massages, microneedling, dermarolling, dermal fillers, and semi-permanent makeup procedures for 4 weeks.

After the first day, commence your bespoke medical skincare plan to ensure and maintain optimum results of your treatment.
